This site is dedicated to the Mexico City Metro system.
It is currently still under construction, but after several years of work putting it off and experimenting, it is almost ready to go live! I expect it to be live within a few weeks, hopefully. Thank you for your patience!
Mexico City's Metro system is one of the largest in the world. I first became fascinated with the metro system in 2002, on my first trip to the city. Several things struck me: the huge amount of people (on average, 3.9 million people use the system every day), the short wait times (every couple of minutes at most during the day), and most importantly, the wayfinding system. Every individual station has a unique symbol representing it. This symbol usually refers to the neghborhood in which it is located (like Cuauhtémoc station, or a nearby landmark, such as Zócalo station, located under the central square in the histroci center of Mexico City. Sometimes, as in the case of Talismón station, it refers to something else entirely (in this case, the bones of a wooly mammoth which were found during the construction of the station).
Mexico City's Metro system was the first to use this unique method of identifying stations. Lance Wyman designed the first logos for the system after having designed logos for the 1968 Summer Olympics. I strongly reccomend that you visit his site for his insight in the creation of the logos.

Mexico City is also served by 3 other mass transit systems:
This site includes information about every line and every station, including the different systems mentioned above. Simply use the menu at the top of the page to go from line to line, and the station menu on the right to see information (and soon, Google Maps!) about each station.
As this site is very much a work based on my own personal interest, you may notice that I neglect to talk about certain aspects of the systems. For example, I include no information regarding the types of trains used, or an in-depth study of the history of the system, as these are not topics that interest me too much. The Wikipedia entry on the Metro system is a good place to start, if you are interested in those kinds of details. I also will include my own personal commentary on certain aspects of the system wherever appropriate.
On another note, major updates to the site, news regarding the systems that I find interesting, and my own commentary on different things about Mexico City and it's Metro system can be found on the News section.
I sincerely hope that the information I provide here is of use to you. If you have any questions, comments, corrections, photos to share, or anything else to tell me, please don't hesitate to use my contact form to contact me, and I'll get back to you ASAP. Thanks!
