This past week, the cost of a ticket to ride the Mexico City metro went up from 3 pesos to 5 pesos per ticket. At this price, it is still one of the cheapest metro rides in the world. However, many people are angry at the price increase, especially with the manner it was decided.
A few weeks ago, I visited the new Line 12, La Línea Dorada (the Gold Line), which opened in October 2012. I was accompanied by my fellow admirers of the Mexico City Metro system: Antonio, Alejandro, and Gustavo.
Five years after having been announced, and two years after Mexico celebrated the Bicentennial anniversary of their Independence and the Centennial anniversary of the Mexican Revolution, the newest line of the Mexico City Metro System will open officially on October 30th, 2012.
